I'm not keen on the world "talent", but it's definitely a skill. Great song writing, that is. Anyone could write a crappy one. Unless they can't write. Mmhm.

it is. just because a song can be good without great lyrics (rap) doesn't mean songwriting requires no talent. I listen to a couple or so bands who are known for how much effort they put into their lyrics, and it's a valuable bonus

sure; of course, you can learn about harmonies and whatnot, but someone who has the talent will be remarkably better all the way.

yes but some artists dont write a few of their songs, they get other people to write it instead

Even if you know how to write, it takes a lot of talent to write an intire meaningful lyric
