160 posts	the only myth here would be that happiness is a myth. it exists. and it starts with yourself. so for all who answer that its a myth STOP FEELING SORRY FOR YOURSELVES!!! if you lost your job, get another one; if you got your heart broken cry it out, but be glad you rid of them because if they really loved you , if you mattered to them at all they wouldn't have broken your heart truth is if they are THE ONE, they wouldn't have left; if somebody you loved died, mourn them and move on, remember, celebrate and honor them but don't let it run your life, it's part of life, it's inevitable and it's beautiful; if your parents are getting a divorce be happy, it means not only that you get twice the presents but that now they get to keep looking for the "right" someone which is good for them which should make you happy if you care about them at all; if your dog died get another one there are a lot of dogs who need a home and enjoy the memories you have with the old one; if you're fat lose weight, if you can't by yourself then get help; if you think you're ugly remember "beauty lies in the eye of the beholder" so you are literally fooling yourself into thinking you are ugly when you could find yourself beautiful; if you're stupid then visit the "For Dummies" books website there a book for pretty much anything; so just start by enjoying the fact that you are alive, which mean that you have the power to do with that life as you want, you can be whoever (didn't say whatever though you could) you wanna be and that right there should be enough or a start at least which would prove the whole "it's a myth" statement wrong. remember that being happy and feeling happy is not the same thing, if you can't have both at least have one, enjoy the good moments, that is happiness, allow yourself to be happy, it's the only way and also remember that everything has to sides so don't always focus on the negative side, there's always a positive side no matter how small it might be SMILE, GOD LOVES YOU!!!! p.s. if you didn't know sadness you wouldn't know what happiness is, so at least be happy that your misery will allow you to enjoy happiness someday lol

101 posts	as you can measure the amount of dopamine, serotonin and especially endorphin, in biochemical terms, it does exist (as the state of being happy). the philosophical happiness, on the other hand, is a different matter * offtopic : so 20% have never been happy? (otherwise they'd know happiness) please tell me those aren't the 13y.o. goth-girls (with a rich daddy/mommy) who already mourn over their oh-so-hard lives and the suffering inherent in existence in general >.

144 posts	It does, but in the past only. Cause in present hardly anybody is able to realize its presence. So what you're saying is you're never happy. You just think back of some time and realize you wére happy? :s I can't tell you how often I am happy in the present and know it very well.
