| I agree with Lunacy. My school used to have a dress code, which was fine, then they introduced a uniform, which is a lot worse.
Recently, they decided to introduce a rule against hair dye. Which they had no way of enforcing. The teachers just gave up on it after a while. | 08-11-2008 00:36 misfitgurl444 | 5,917 posts
| We have a dress code. Just no one follows it. I mean I probably break half the rules. My boobs show, midriff, my shorts and skirts end up being too short, etc. I never get in trouble lol.
Anyway.
Nonuniforms: Expression, freedom, comfort, etc.
Uniforms: Not problems/fights, people pay more attention to work instead of looking at what others are wearing, no slut influences, etc. | 08-11-2008 00:43 rotciv_00 |

| i don't we should.
i mean, i do.
but i think it's good sometimes.
it doesn't take me 5000 minutes to get ready every morning because i already know what i have to wear.
but then again, wearing uniforms makes us targets to the ghetto school around the block.
so it's bad. | 08-11-2008 01:25 M4OR |

| At my high school we had to wear uniforms and nobody really cared, we knew we had to wear it so we just did. I mean it's just clothes and schools a place to learn not a fashion show. Wearing a uniform is easier you know what you have to wear so it's faster getting ready in the morning | 08-11-2008 01:38 Xwati | 7 posts
| I say no. I agree with a lenient dress code; you can wear what you like, to the point where your clothes are too provocative. Uniforms are inconvenient, since I'd have to go home to change into my work uniform after school, and then rush out. They are also expensive and defy freedom of expression. | 08-11-2008 01:43 flirtz2002 |

| In my opinion, while uniforms provide simplicity in many ways, I don't think they should be necessary.
People in general are ridiculously lazy. That includes teachers and the school staff who should be enforcing the dress codes that are usually in place in a school. If there is a good dress code and it's enforced across the board, then there shouldn't be a need for uniforms.
Uniforms are a school board's answer for teachers who are too lazy too write kids up for breaking the dress code and parents who are too lazy to discipline their children.
It's one of those visible reminders that society seems to be failing as a whole. It's a sad truth that if parents simply raised their children properly and teachers weren't scared to discipline their students for breaking the rules, the uniforms wouldn't be necessary and we would have a well-behaved generation growing up to be responsible adults who would take responsibility for their own actions. | 08-11-2008 01:52 ieshie_ |

| Yes: 'cause it's easier for people to "pick out clothes"
'cause it's easier to know who's from the school
No: 'cause it's not always that "good looking"
Also cause the people from the school is gonna start doing petition and other useless stuff
And.. 'cause i have some at my school well only the top which is a plain white polo so you can wear a Lacoste polo or american eagle etc etc and they dont care | 08-11-2008 02:49 Htd1 | 23,374 posts
| Yes there should be uniforms. Many kids/teens feel pressured to fit in according to which clothes they wear. This can be very stressful for many. A uniform would limit this and make the main focus more on schoolwork which is the main reason they're at school. Plus, it saves time in the morning so you can sleep in later. | 08-11-2008 02:58 Ownage |

| I voted yes. At my school, we do wear uniforms. Just like, khaki or navy pants, shorts, skirts, shorts, etc. And polo shirts.
They aren't bad at all actually.
Nobody minds wearing them.
And it is a ton easier picking out what to wear in the morning.
The only problem people complain about is that 'they can't be individuals'.
But people do personalize their uniforms by type of pants and shirts, and accessories.
It's just easier. | 08-11-2008 06:42 BlackRia |

SO AGREE. You get whiners complaining about school uniform but really it's not that bad. I guess if they're used to casual clothes, uniform would be a big shock and of course they'd complain. But if you grew up with it (like I am) you don't see it as a big fuss and just get on with it.
In Hong Kong, all (or most) schools wear school uniform, and it's always been like that. Occasionally we get casual days, and I find those days more stressful. I stake out my closet to find something suitable, have to switch my locker keys, travel cards, change, mobile and other stuff that we in my uniform skirt to my jeans or whatever I wear that day. I usually end up coming later than usual and/or forgetting my locker keys and having my homeroom teacher lending me the extras. | 08-11-2008 06:52 DarXide |

| In Catholic or private school, yes (if the administration wants it). In public schools, no. I wore a uniform my whole life (cause i went to Catholic and private schools). I hated the uniform at the time, but now that I'm in college I miss it, believe it or not. |
