I believe there's a difference between stealing bread from Asda/Walmart, and a necklace from Harrods or equivalent.

Everyone wants nice things. Everyone needs to survive.
There's a vicious cycle these days. You can't pay rent cos your job sucks or other issue so you become homeless. You homeless so you don't have an address, so you can't get a job to feed yourself and pay rent. Endlessly stuck in one position.

The concept of theft is wrong. If it was done with good intentions. However some need and have no choice.

And by acceptance, I do not mean stealing possessions from a house. A large supermarket chain can compensate for a pint of milk.

Things are getting worse..More and more people throughout the world are hungry and try to survive under awful conditions..So if they steal food, they don't have to be punished..

We don't have to forget that if we were in their situation we would steal in order to survive..And we would not like to be punished..

There are much more serious crimes that are committed and have to be punished very harshly..

I like jessieonfire's reply. I totaly agree that there are some circumstances that it's not as wrong, but it's still reaaaaaaalllly bad and still against the law.

Yes, of course it is, stealing food to feed yourself or your family is a better excuse than someone stealing jewelry or a car for themselves.

It is more "justified" but that doesn't mean it IS justified. If a poor person steals it's because they've given up hope of being able to get themselves out of poverty, or feel they can't afford basic necessities. If a rich person steals it is pure greed. Neither are justified, it just means the poor person is weak rather than just evil.
