| sadly no. i do feel bad for people like that but to be honest with you finding the tiniest little job is not that hard. the economy may be bad but there will always be even the tiniest little job available and i don't support begging for money sorry. a charity maybe depending on the charity but begging on the streets no. | +6 @ 04-05-2008 05:14 JDolla | 7,226 posts
| * offtopic : yeah its really easy to get a job when you're homeless, what with all the nice clothes to wear to an interview and a phone with which to receive a callback if by some chance you do get accepted for a job...

| * offtopic : and most truly homeless people are older persons with mental disorders with no real background info...its the jerkoffs who just do it out of ill will/laziness that mess up any aid system, including little personal donations

| No I don't. All money are money for me even the lowest coin.
How sadly I think it is to be homeless they can get money from social service, so why chould I?
it's selfish I know, but as a student I need every little penny I have. | 0 @ 04-05-2008 13:14 grounded_angel | 5,917 posts
| Sometimes, I give some money. I always feel sorry when I see someone begging, but sometimes you have to say no, even if it's kinda hard to say it. We all need the money and I can't give to all the homeless people I see everyday (which are a lot around here, sadly.)
I don't blame them for being homeless, to get a job here, it's not that easy, even to clean toilets, you gotta have a million abilities *rolls eyes* | 0 @ 04-05-2008 14:01 Joeyy | 3,392 posts
| I've never been asked but I'll give if I see them sometimes, usually the ones who don't sell the Big Issue or play an instrument because those are making money from that, the others have nothing. I agree with JDolla, apart from the Big Issue (and I don't know if they have that in other countries) how are homeless people supposed to get a job? They won't present a great image, may smell a little ripe, have no phone to call back to or address for employers to write to and I doubt they have a bank account for the money to be sent to. And even if they tried, saying or putting on a form that they're homeless won't exactly give them brownie points. I don't need spare change to live, they do.

| I've never been asked. I live in an area that doesn't have homeless people. We have a few people with mental problems that roam the street, but they have homes with family members. | +1 @ 04-05-2008 14:50 Pop_killer | 6,729 posts
| Very rarely. There are so many bent people around you never really know who you're giving it too. I had some tiny old woman in Spain in some kind of plain black robe/gown/whatjamacallit come up to me, clasping her hands in the sortof steriotypical begging way and mumbling weakly. It looked really sad and I was almost sympathetic...
...and then I saw her expensive handbag. Do you really know these people are even homeless? And like I saw spoken in here earlier; just what do they spend the money on?
I really don't like it when people beg. It puts you on the spot and you feel bad if you don't give them anything, but at the same time, what did they do for it? If I give away money it's to a charity. | 0 @ 04-05-2008 14:58 Juliet86 | 8,132 posts
| the Big Issue (and I don't know if they have that in other countries)
I had to look up what that was, but we have some similar magazines here, in the 3 largest cities at least.
I sometimes give money to homeless people, if they come up and ask. Or if they play an instrument or something (not all of them are homeless though). And if I have change easily accessible.
If they just sit somewhere I very rarely give them anything | +1 @ 04-05-2008 14:59 RandmBiskit | 235 posts
| Sometimes, but there are so many homeless people - how can you give them all money? It depresses me, how many there are. Also, as other people have said, you don't know what they'll spend the money on.
Those who've said there aren't any homeless people where they live, unless you live in a really small town, there probably are, you either just haven't noticed them, or they don't beg in the main parts of the town. There are homeless people in every city, that's life | 0 @ 04-05-2008 15:02 Pop_killer | 6,729 posts
| if he asks? so homeless ppl are only men? yes i do giv them change
Tell you what; why don't you invent a generic pronoun for couldbemaleorfemale? Because there isn't one right now, unless you type he/she. But some sad politcal correctness activists will probably get offended by that anyway.
It's only a word, so what... I for one see alot more homeless men than women so it's an easy steriotype to make. | -3 @ 04-05-2008 17:27 welshgirllowri | 153 posts
| No. I disapprove of all forms of begging, even those people who are collecting for charity and when you pass them in the road they just say something along the lines of "Do you want to give some money to charity?" I just think that's sort of forcing you to give money, which isn't a nice thing to do. If homeless people want money, they can get themselves a job, because I for one am not going to give out money to people who could well be undeserving crooks who would just spend the money on drugs or alcohol. It would be much better to just buy food for the person, and they can like it or lump it. Not that I've ever seen anyone homeless or begging or whatever, apart from on holiday. Also, I got my picture drawn in Paris, but I don't think that's quite the same thing. | -2 @ 04-05-2008 17:51 lada4ever | 168 posts
| I've never been asked 2 give $. I've seen them but never been asked. O and the whole "if he asked" thing, i've never seen a female homeless person so maybe that's y they sed that. I guess girls r just better like that. | 0 @ 04-05-2008 18:18 fbcards4all | 41 posts
| it's true, i just double-checked and there are no homeless females. anyway, i do give them my spare change because even if they are going to use it to buy booze or drugs, at least it will give them a little happiness in their lives before they die a slow and painful death. plus booze and drugs rock!!!! | 0 @ 04-05-2008 18:31 Lunacy | 311 posts
