| No, because everyone will strive for the "perfect" human and variety will greatly decrease.
Plus, the world has enough people as it is. Actually, too many. | 15-11-2006 03:14 LinkinLawg | 19,068 posts

| What if someone was halfway to finding the cure to cancer? then he died? shouldn't we clone him back to finish his cure? | 15-11-2006 09:26 criticman7366 | 1 posts
| Just because someone's halfway doesn't mean he'll be able to finish it and even if the clone does find the cure what happens to the clone? Kill it? I wouldn't want my mom to die and cloned to fine a cure then replace my real mom. I answered no | 15-11-2006 09:46 something_more | 267 posts
| hmmm... im rather torn becoz i think that if i lost my child (if i had one that is) i would want her back although i dont think that its morally rite to take nature into our own hands as if there was some greater force out there then they would handle it for us insteasd, but to be hionest im not sure wat i think at the present | 15-11-2006 10:36 chaoscontroler_ | 166 posts
| i agree wih something more...it's true taht way we may replace someone we lose...but i'm against cloning...we have enough suffering in this planet...why bring more ppl to join us? =/btw, if we cloned human people, they'll be born with problems and die young...relating to organ donator (guess they are called that way) it's more complicated but a scientists may find a way to clone the organs instead of the whole person... | 15-11-2006 10:37 chaoscontroler_ | 166 posts

| you have to know something! That if someone dies at 40 for example and u want to bring him back you clone him then you have to wait until he grows up. + He'll have troubles with his memory because he'll be remembering things he never did. That's the worst thing of cloning someone. | 15-11-2006 13:28 Clipped_Angel |

| You are all [most of you] narrow minded and some of are stupid as well....
you don't know a thing about clonning and as far as i know ppl shouldn't talk about thing they don't know......
when you clone a peson you only clone their genetics in other words he will be a totaly different person because we can't clone the exact environment the person had growing up so if we clone a doctor it dosn't mean he could finish something the doctor started
and second.....it's true the person would have to grow up when we clone them but he won't have memories of the person he was cloned from
all that was stated here is related to the clonning methods possible nowsays...
maybe in the future there will be a way to make a grown up clone with the pesonality and memories of the original person
but for the time being all of that i've writen is true because unlike some people i state facts only when i have studied the subject and absolutely sure it's true........
i'm sorry if my words are alittle harsh but i hate it when people make a fuss out of ignorance | 15-11-2006 14:46 Aredhel | 51 posts

| Noo waay!!!
When u clone somebody, they wont neccesarily have the same personality, it could be very very different. Besides its not right to continue to mess with nature. We've done enough already.
For those of you who havent seen Godsend, see it!
Its a film about a family whose son died and they cloned him, but he turned out to be a lot different!!

| Uh, why not if that way there would be less people with bad genes (disabilities)? There is currently a risk that the clone might not survive, like Dolly didn't, but I don't know the whole story - maybe it wasn't the clone reason. And I agree with Clipped Angel that the clone will not be the same, because I believe environment influences a person more than genes. The clone will only have the same looks and possibly same talents.
An interesting aspect is that by raising 'yourself' you already know what you might expect. You can 'fix the mistakes' your parents made and see if they really were 'mistakes'. That might give new info on how to raise a child and human development.
A problem may be keeping the clone safe from public attention. But then again, I haven't heard from that alleged clone from years ago so they managed to hide it?

Well, it doesn't really affect me does it? And if it did I would care, why?
You are an idiot.
It will affect you.... when it effects you.. you are human.. the cloning of humans will effect your every way of life... you may think that what effects others won't affect you... but you are wrong.
I'm pretty sure they have already cloned many humans, and the media just hasn't gotten ahold of it.. the goverment does alot of things 'behind closed doors' and without the approval of the public.
I guess there are different points to be made here so ... here I go :
Stem cell research has been advanced with the excuse of 'finding a cure for cancer' .. or replacing organs... replacing bad genes and riding us of disease and deformity... but the ultimate goal of this is to ... live forever.
People want their love ones back, limbs, organs... and all the rest.. and most people in desperate situations such as those lose all intelligent thinking and act on passion rather than reason. You can't genetically reproduce a being and expect them to be the same person... they will look the same.. have vague flashbacks of a memory not their own.. but depending on where they are raised.. the people they come in contact with and such, their whole personality will be a completely altered form of their 'original'. We aren't just born the people we are today... we are raised to become the people we choose to be.
They have tried and tried to grow organs that would function in the human body, but I haven't kept up much with it... to see if they have finally got anything to work.. The whole theory is mass destruction in itself. People get sick and they die.. it's a natural cycle that keeps life as we know it intact... technology has furthered itself and we now have preventitive care for many things.. health risks are more apparent and more publicized.. surgeries and medicine are used to prevent/cure/lessen the damage of some of the most miraculous diseases known to this day man. We are trying to make up for all the horrible things we have done to our species... our life expectancy fluctuates with every new cure and every new age of technology, poisioning ourselves with polutions and greasy foods, trimming up our bodies for the perfect fit.. and now we want to just 'fix' all the bad parts that we ourselves have put there... There isn't this... 'reset button' that you can push everytime you .. 'mess up'. That 'easy button' you see on those television commercials.
If people start living longer.. populations will increase to the point of having no land to house humans.. much less all the animals out there already giving up their homes and resources to over population... we will tear down the earth of all it has to give us .. until we throw ourselves back into a stone age of sorts where we have to start all over again.
Technology is not advancing us as fast as our brains can think of new things to destroy and try to 'recreate'.
Cancer is one of those natural disaster .. 'poulation controllers' ... I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't come out decades from now that it was introduced into society centuries ago in some conspiracy to provide a 'cure' and reach 'hero status' for one or many of the goverment/terrorist officials. But each century they find something new... they understand something more.. and something else changes... something else morphs and it's spun out of control... and now they just want to try and 'fix it'.
One research institute has been approved to use bovine eggs in stem cell research.. which cuts back on the amount of eggs used from human females.. because evidently 'cows don't mind'... =\ wait until the animal lovers get ahold of that one.
Science destroys and recreates to what it sees to be a better form.. all I see of it is a confused bunch of people that want to spread their ignorance forever.

WTF?
Do you not see that you WOULDNT be one of THEM?
OH right lets recreate every child with a lost past and a bad family... raise them up right this time.. and have a perfect society where everyone is raised to look the same, act the same, eat the same foods, smile the same.. are you people so quick to give up your freedoms for the fake better life?
some of the responses here sicken me.
