Yeah, I guess, just because it sounds retarded when it's bleeped out.

But, it's better with no cussing at all, if that's what it's asking.

I think if the song has a strong message attached swearing helps. Cursing adds a level of commanding and authority.

On other songs it just adds a level of 'hardcore-ness' that doesn't fit in, like if you're listening to indie rock or jazz or something?

if cursing adds to the feelings of the song, such as swearing to show anguish, then yes, but songs that just curse over and over, (family reuinion- blink182) not necesarily a better song than a song with no curses

I said yes. because I have the edited version of a blink-182 cd, and happy holidays has no lyrics whatsoever except "They'll never talk to you again" and then on this fabulous site, I found out that theres a whole song, not just that one line.

Also, Bep, the cd version of "hey mama" and "lets get retarded" were better in my opinion then on the radio

It doesn't necessarily make a song better...You can make a good song without it. If I heard a song w.o any I wouldn't be like "THIS SONG BLOWS, THERE'S NO CUSSING!". Sometimes it can help emphasize a point but it doesn't determine if the song is good or not.
